What do we mean when we say accountability for our publicly elected officials? Call em, write em, speak up to them, speak back to them, in their public appearances, during Public Comments? But none of that actually works. I know. I’ve been doing all that and more for over a decade.

Sue? The gov? The one with the bottomless pit of money provided to them without opposition by peeps they call taxpayers. Yeah. Right.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. That’s what jerk gov officials tell us to do. Nag em with all our vast wealth of time, yet they still don’t listen.

To have to speak in public to them over and over? That is not the job of a constituent.

Accountability without repercussion for wrongdoing, such as not listening, is like praying. It accomplishes nothing. There has to be another way.

Voting? While it works in other countries, it does not work here. When it becomes obvious that our public officials are not listening to us, can we can em? As in voting them out?

No, we can’t. Well, maybe, but we’d have to go to a Voting Arms Race with Australia to win. 91% to be exact.
