Davenport, Florida | Mayor Donna Fellows-Coffey:
I noticed that you referenced First Amendment press freedoms in your most recent Four Corners Sun opinion piece. Clearly you support that part of our US Constitution, as do I. Did you know that the separation of church and state is also in the First Amendment?

I must ask, rhetorically, why is it that at every single Board of Commissioners’ meeting, you and our Board violate the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause by praying at our public meetings, specifically Christian prayers? In plain English, that is not allowed per the same First Amendment you quoted to support press freedom. Why do you feel it is okay to adhere to just the press part of our Constitution but not the part that affects constituents like me?
Religious prayer in public meetings is far beyond wrong; it is anti-constitutional and proFa, antonym to antiFa, the US Constitution being The AntiFa Handbook. Please stop the prayers at public meetings. Please adhere to all of our Constitution, not just the parts with which you agree.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease is short for yell if you want to be heard.
It’s not the job of constituents to repeat ourselves nor to raise our voices to be heard.
Do your jobs, COMMISSIONERS … THE FIRST TIME WE TELL YOU, DO SOMETHING.

Polk County and many others also have time for prayer at their Public Hearings
