How CNN Lost the Debate

On any debate stage, there are at least three sides: the minimum of two debaters and the moderator(s). Last night was no different. With all the talk of Joe Biden “losing” the debate, there is one other entity that actually lost the debate, full blast: the CNN moderators, Dana Bash and Jake Tapper, the most vanilla newscasters of all time.

It was the first time in history that an incumbent American president debated a convicted felon. No one, not even CNN, was there to fact check this felon. It was left all to Joe Biden to correct the felon while also answering the all of the questions posed by the moderators. The felon, on the other hand, simply didn’t answer the questions he didn’t like. Lies, lies, lies is 90% of what he did. Gish Gallop.

The moderators?

They weren’t prepared. They didn’t fact check the candidates. They didn’t refuse to ask the felon more questions until he answered the ones already asked. They asked nothing about infrastructure and nothing about Project 2025, the thousand-page plan that Republicans have created to decimate the American government. By not doing what they were supposed to be doing, the moderators gave an unfair advantage to the felon, thus the appearance that Joe Biden lost the debate.

Joe Biden wasn’t ready for prime time, just like CNN wasn’t prepared to give its audience the truth at all times. Instead, they listed their fact checks after the debate was done.

Too late, CNN. Poor planning doesn’t take the place of the afterthought of fact-checking. You lost, CNN. Maybe try again next election cycle.
