No Election; Two Ascensions

It’ll soon be official that the City of Davenport will have two Fellows on its board of commissioners, and, yes, they are closely related. Because neither candidate registering for this year’s election had any opposition, there will be zero election, that is, as in null but not void.

Donna Fellows-Coffey & Tom Fellows, 2019

Rather than an election, the newest Fellows, named Donna Fellows-Coffey, an MBA, and publisher of the relatively new Davenport newspaper, the Four Corners News Sun, will replace vice mayor Brynn Summerlin’s seat, while Brynn will ascend to mayor. (Brynn has been on the commission since he was appointed in 2019.) Commissioner Tom Fellows will remain in his seat for another year. (And, yep! That’s Donna’s dad.) Their swearing in will be on Monday, April 17, 2023.
