Davenport Hears from All Candidates

April 4 is election day here in Davenport. If you didn’t have the opportunity to attend Davenport Concerned Citizen’s candidate forum on March 23, here’re tapes. Choose your format and play.

Also, our local paper, the NewsChief, covered the Davenport event.

  1. Not a word mentioned about the two “concerned citizens” not bothering to show up Tuesday night. The word I heard was that they didn’t feel comfortable because it was put on by the Historical Society. Yet Crystal and Able attended the one put on by the “concerned citizens”. Why am I not surprised?

    1. What I “heard” was that the Darlene and Barbara got wind of a document from the historical society (DHS) that expressed tremendous support of Abel, which is apparently in violation of their nonprofit status. Their no-show at the DHS event, I understand, was a show of protest.

I say I “heard” because I actually saw the document. It’s floating around on the Internet. The origin of the document: a commissioner associated with DHS, not from Darlene/John nor Barbara nor Abel nor Crystal. (HAH … How’s that for a hint?)

I will say this, however, having all candidates present makes these kinds of events much more interesting. I’m starting to see your point about the problem with the division in our little city.
